Are you over 18? Yes
Do you have any other characters in game?: Nara'a Sunvara
Who invited you?: N/A

Character Name: Jun Ushiro
Canon: Bokurano: Ours (manga)
Canon Point: End of Chapter 64
Age: 13

History: Canon plot as a whole, Jun in particular
Is this character an AU? What type?: No.
Personality:
Jun has an extremely short fuse, from the beginning of the series to near the end. His short temper isn't helped by the fact that he's seen all the other child pilots die before him - and his mother, whom he didn't know was his mother until just before she died. He used to take his anger out on his sister Kana, because her mother died in childbirth with her and Jun thought that they shared a mother, so it was therefore Kana's fault that he had no mother. He does have one relatively close friend, Kanji, who knows Jun beats Kana, but doesn't say anything about it because Kana asked him not to. Ushiro tells Kanji that even though he wasn't in the contract (at that point), his other (semi-)friend Waku wasn't the only reason he stuck around.

After Kana dies, Jun starts to change in personality, at least a bit. He's still short-tempered, but he's a little more open to people. In fact, he had a small crush on Machi before she ended up in a coma. He was not originally contracted to be a pilot, but joined because he didn't want "outsiders" involved in what killed his sister. This shows that he does at least care a little bit for other people - he could have passed along the responsibility of becoming a pilot to someone else. Still, most of his focus is on himself - he's still very consumed by his own problems and sure and cocky of his own intelligence. He doesn't understand other people as well as he understands himself, and he likes it that way. Piss him off, and while he may not ruin you physically, one day there will be a time you need his knowledge. On that day, you'll need him, and if you don't treat him well - he won't be there for you.

He also carries a lot of guilt. In his battle, he let the enemy pilots escape. Fortunately, Zearth had the ability to sense souls (or life signs, or whatever you want to call it). Unfortunately, he couldn't pick them out from the others. He had to kill every person on his enemy's planet, individually. He carries guilt from abusing his sister. He carries guilt from not saving Machi. He carries guilt for not being a good son to his father, and not being able to finish his last conversation with him. He doesn't want to burden other people with this guilt, but the fact is that his battle - and seeing the battles before his - have left him severely traumatized. He doesn't really want to face what's happened, but he knows he has to - and at the same time, it's all too painful to face.

For most people, when he encounters them, it's easy for him to just brush them off. He doesn't particularly care about other people (and he's stated that while he has some interest in girls it's less than most people), and he has his own mountain of issues to climb. He observes people very closely, though - he can pull out things that they did a long time ago. His memory for facts and details is helpful when he does want to be kind, as he can easily pull up records of good times. Still, he's a bit detached from it all.

People whom he gets close to have the dubious honor of seeing his kinder and more easily embarrassed side. Even with everything, he's still a thirteen year old who is trying to make his way in the world. He's a little lost, and not confident in everything he does despite how he might appear sometimes. While he still has a temper, someone he's close to is more likely to get a punch in the shoulder than a full fury beatdown. He's kind deep down - it's just that most people don't bother to work at breaking his shell to find that part of him.

Powers and Abilities:
- Good academic research/writing skills (for... a thirteen year old…)
- Eye for detail
- A little bit stronger than he looks (though still a skinny nerd)

Other than that he has no abilities.

Inventory: Everyday outfit, Kanji's jacket, his uniform, a brown paper shopping bag.

Sample: TDM toplevel!

When presented with a choice, is the character more likely to stick with tried and true methods? Or make something new up on the fly? Tried and true, unless he's forced to adapt. He can adapt, but he's more likely to use what works.
What is more important to your character, preserving the past or forging a future? Future. He's dead, he can't change the past... all he can do is to help save the world his friends and classmates died to protect.
How does your character influence their own story? What about the stories of others? He influences it by choosing to become a pilot, to step up and die for his world. He doesn't want to - who wants to die if they're not already suicidal? - but he feels like as the last one left he has a duty to help.

Are you alright with your character’s canon being used as a Recommended Reading?: I am, however considering the extremely long list of trigger warnings for this canon I don't know if you would be alright with it.
